The outlet where the filter will be plugged in must be checked. Faults in the outlet can cause the device to malfunction. The filter plug must fit snugly and securely into the outlet. The outlet where the filter will be plugged in must be dry and out of reach. If the filter falls into the aquarium, i.e., if the suction cups come off, it should not be adjusted without unplugging it. This could cause an electric shock. Care should be taken if there are children in the home. It should be located out of the reach of children. The temperature of the aquarium water is important. It should not be operated in temperatures below zero (-) degrees or in very hot water. If the filter is to be operated away from the power outlet, an extension cord suitable for its power rating should be used. The filter should remain in continuous operation. Cleaning is recommended after unplugging. The filter should only be cleaned with water and detergent should not be used. To ensure the filter functions properly, it should be cleaned regularly and checked frequently.
