Evening primrose, also known as primula, is a biennial herbaceous plant from the Onagraceae family.
The plant is 1 meter tall, with green elongated leaves and large flowers that are white, yellow, pink or rarely red.
These bloom from June to October but open only in the evening and wilt and fall the next day.
Evening primrose is native to North America and Canada, but is also cultivated in Asia and Europe.
The oil is extracted by grinding and cold pressing the seeds.
