Sovarful is a native plant of the mediterranean and asian basins, but it also thrives in other parts of europe. it belongs to the labiatae family. in romania, it grows on hills and mountains, in forests, shrublands, dry, rocky areas, alongside forests, and even in alpine regions. Sovarful is a four-edged, green plant with pink undertones, featuring a perisori, woody base, and a branching top. it grows in patches, reaching up to 80 cm in height. the leaves are oval, opposite, and have either straight or slightly wavy edges, with a sharp tip. The flowers grow in combined bouquets at the top of the stem and branches, are pink-purple in color, with fewer white ones, and bloom from june to august. the leaves and stems emit a very pleasant and aromatic scent when crushed between the fingers. In herbal medicine, the aerial parts of the plant are used. the plant is harvested in bloom, starting from the point where it begins to branch. during the flowering period, and especially in the morning, the plant contains the highest concentration of essential oils.
